Sirens and Services: Koha Ice Cream Day – A Focus on Community Safety in Te Puke

Date:

Te Puke, NZ – Get ready, Te Puke! This Saturday, July 26th, 2025, the Te Puke War Memorial Hall will be buzzing with activity as it hosts “Sirens and Services: Koha Ice Cream Day,” a comprehensive Safety, Security, and Community Services Expo. From 10 am to 2 pm, this FREE community event promises a wealth of information, entertainment, and a chance to contribute to a vital local cause.

Organised by Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support in partnership with The Hub Te Puke’s Food Bank, the expo encourages attendees to bring along a non-perishable food item. These contributions will directly support The Hub’s ongoing efforts to assist families and individuals in need within our community.

“Sirens and Services is all about empowering our community with knowledge and resources to enhance safety and security,” says a spokesperson for Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support. “We’ve gathered a fantastic range of services and experts under one roof, covering everything from practical home security tips and scam prevention to understanding the role of our local emergency services.”

The event offers a unique opportunity to connect directly with various organisations dedicated to keeping Te Puke safe and strong. Visitors can expect to learn about:

  • Home Security and Alarms: Practical advice to safeguard your property.
  • Scam Awareness: Essential information to protect yourself and your loved ones from common scams.
  • Local Siren Services: An insight into the crucial work of our emergency responders.
  • Community Support Networks: Discovering the diverse groups and initiatives that strengthen our community fabric.

For the younger members of our community, the event offers an engaging “Learn and Earn” incentive. Tamariki can pick up an event passport upon arrival, and as they visit the different service stalls and get their passport filled, they’ll earn a FREE ice cream at the Western Bay of Plenty Neighbourhood Support table! Beyond the ice cream, there will be dedicated entertainment for children and exciting spot prizes throughout the day.

“This is more than just an expo; it’s a chance to build stronger connections within our community and to ensure everyone feels safe and supported,” adds the organiser. “We invite everyone, from families to individuals, to come along, learn, and engage.”

Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to enhance your safety knowledge and contribute to a worthy cause.
